The Water and Sewer Section of the Health Department inspects wells and water supply systems to make sure they meet state standards.  They also investigate possible waterborne illnesses and perform soil evaluations for residential sewage systems.

Local Health Departments in North Carolina are not allowed to take or analyze the water samples require for compliance with the Safe Drinking Water Act.
