SYMPTOMS:
A sore near or on the genitals, though it can show up somewhere else, such as the mouth or anus.  A rash on the hands or feet or on other parts of the body.  Flu-like sypmtoms.

HOW IS IT TRANSMITTED?:
Sex.

IS IT CURABLE?:
Yes.

POSSIBLE RESULTS IF NOT TREATED:
Heart damage.  Damage to the brain or spinal cord, which can cause paralysis or insanity.  Death.  Death of newborns.

DIAGNOSIS & TREATMENT:
Syphilis is diagnosed through examination of blood or discharge from sores.  Treatment with antibiotics cures the disease.
