SCALES    

The landfill scales are open six days a week and accommodate approximately
700 vehicles weekly.

Hours: 
Monday through Friday 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Saturday 7 a.m. to 12 Noon

Closed Sunday

The scale weighmaster weighs each vehicle on the scales. Waste is screened for acceptance,
weighed, and charges are determined by the type of waste and tonnage.* A receipt showing
the gross weight, tare weight, net weight, and total amount paid is given to the customer. 

The attendant directs the customer to the appropriate area for disposal. There are separate
areas for metal, construction/ demolition material, tires, yard waste (grass clippings, leaves,
brush) and municipal solid waste.

Radiation detectors and cameras are used by the attendant to further monitor loads. 

Waste dumped at the landfill lined cell is screened for prohibited waste and then compacted
as densely as possible.
