Landuse Plan
Landuse Planning and Landuse Controls, such as Zoning, have long been difficult issues to discuss in Alamance County. Landuse is the pattern of construction and activity land is used for. Patterns of land use arise naturally in a culture through customs and practices, but land use may also be formally regulated by Zoning or planning permission laws, or even by private agreements such as restrictive covenants. The Destination 2020 Plan identified landuse planning as part or all of the solution to many key issues facing this county. As noted in the 2020 plan, developing a landuse plan is a crucial step in defining and preserving a preferred development pattern.
