MEMORANDUM
TO: Youth Football Coaches
FROM: Dan Moravec, Athletic Director
DATE: Thursday, July 17, 2008
SUBJECT: Coaches’ Organizational Meeting for Youth Football & Youth Flag Football
The Coaches’ Organizational Meeting for Youth Football and Flag Football will be held at the County Annex Building in Graham on Thursday evening, July 31st, beginning at 6:30 pm. Any team wishing to play in the County’s program must have a Head Coach in attendance. If the Head Coach is not present for the meeting, then that coach must make an appointment to meet with the Athletic Staff before their entry form is accepted. Failure to do this may result in that team being placed on a waiting list which does not guarantee entry into the league.
This year the Flag Football program will be offered again for children ages 5-6.
Rules packets, contracts, rosters, etc. will be given out at the meeting. A member of the Burlington Football Officials will be present to discuss any rule changes that may affect our program and to answer any questions you may have.
Beginning with the 2001 Baseball/Softball season, the ACRPD required all teams to provide the Recreation Department with a criminal background check on all its coaches. Individuals who do not have a criminal background check on file will not be allowed to coach. This year we will not be getting our background checks done by the Clerk of Court office. We will be using another source to get them done. I will go over this new source at the meeting.
Since 1993, the Alamance County Recreation and Parks Department has required all head coaches to be certified through the NYSCA Program. This is a national certification program endorsed by numerous recreation departments. There will be a $20.00 certification fee for all head coaches. The NYSCA Football Coaches Certification Clinics will be held on Wednesday, August 6th, and Monday, August 11th, at the ACRPD office at Cedarock Park beginning at 6:30 pm each night.
I am looking forward to seeing you on July 31st!
