How to Play
Much like regular golf, Disc Golf has rules and practices that have been developed over years that are designed to ensure a fair and fun competitive sport, whether you're competing in one of the tournaments here at Cedarock, or if you're just competing against yourself.
Some of the rules and playing tips are: |

|
1. The sport is played with disc golf discs, not Frisbees®. You can purchase discs through sporting goods supply retailers and over the internet. Discs may cost between $5 and $20 or more, depending on the brand, quality, etc.
2. Begin at the tee-off area for your initial "drive". Throw the disc towards the basket for that hole. Depending on your skill, you may want to either throw the disc as close to the basket as you can, giving you an opportunity for a birdie, or throw the disc more comfortably and accurately, so you have an easy "chip shot" and followup "putt".
3. All holes at Cedarock on both of our courses are par 3.
4. Most players carry different discs, the same way most golfers carry different clubs. Some discs are designed for long-distance throwing, while others are good for short-distances. A player may use a long-distance disc from the tee, and then, from where that disc landed, toss a short-distance ("putting") disc towards the basket.
5. The hole is completed when you successfully toss your disc into the basket for that hole.
6. In stroke play, the player with the fewest "strokes" wins. Some groups of players, however, enjoy playing the game by "skins", where the player with the fewest strokes on the hole wins the hole, and the player with the most holes wins the match. |
You can download the official rules of Disc Golf at the Professional Disc Golf Association's Website. There is also a local website that is not operated by Recreation and Parks that has information about disc golf at Cedarock, including score sheets, course maps, and upcoming PDGA Tournament Information. |
