Our new website may be an adjustment for some of our users. In order to ease you through this, Alamance County is pleased to provide you with this brief tutorial on using our new website - along with some comparissons between our old website and the new website.
Help! Where is the big list of links that you used to have on your front page? It's gone. As great as it was to have a list of ready-to-visit links on our front page, the list got really big and confusing for many of our users. In order to help you find what you need, we've included four new areas called "Residents", "Business", "Visitors", and "Online Services". While not all of the links can be found in those three sections, we hope that they will link to the items you need immediate access to.
If you see something on our site that you think should be in one of these areas, please let us know!!
Residents Residents is designed for residents of Alamance County and its towns and cities, although residents of surrounding counties and their towns and cities may also find some useful information in there.
Business This section is designed for businesses that do business in Alamance County.
Visitors This section is for visitors to our area.
Where is GIS / Tax Mapping / Parcel Information? Try Online Services - GIS.
This menu on the left looks different. The Tabs are gone and have been replaced with a menu bar. How do I navigate the new website?

  Old Menu / New Menu
|
We redesigned our menus to allow you to have immediate access to as much information as possible. The different areas have sub-areas and pages in them, and clicking on any area will expand the information below it.
Clicking on "Departments" will expand the Departments Menu and show you all of the departments under it. Under the departments menu, clicking on "Commissioners" will expand the menu further to show you what areas and pages are available under the Commissioners' Area. | Along with the menus on the side, Alamance County replaced the old tabs at the top of the page with a basic menu system. This menu will allow you to access our major areas from almost any page on our website.

Old-Style Tabs |
New-Style Menu | The search engine is right on the front page now. Is it the same? How do I use it? No. We changed our search engine technology for our new website, and now it takes your search requests from any page on the website. It can even search inside of documents such as Microsoft Word and Adobe Acrobat documents. To use it, simply type in the words you want to search for and click the search button. It will not search unless you click the button. Typing your words and hitting "Enter" will not start a search.
There are some documents on your site that were made with Adobe Acrobat / Microsoft Word / Microsoft Excel / Microsoft PowerPoint. I do not have these programs. How can I view these documents? We are pleased to provide you with links to each of these companies, who provide free downloadable readers and viewers for each of these document types.
