Alamance County War Memorial The Alamance County War Memorial

The Alamance County War Memorial is "dedicated to the honor of all the brave men and women of Alamance County who fought in service to their country and in memory of those who gave their lives in defense of our freedom."

It is located in front of the New Alamance County Courthouse at 212 W. Elm Street in Graham.

Visitors to the War Memorial may park at the courthouse parking lot or at any of the public spaces in Graham to view the memorial.

The War Memorial was dedicated in 1996 and was built through private funding and donations.  Today, it is a place of quiet introspection and solemnity for those who have fought and died for the sake of freedom. It includes names from eight conflicts that the United States has participated in since Alamance County's founding in 1849.  Wars prior to 1849 are not listed.  This includes all pre-Independence Conflicts (including the French and Indian War and the Battle of Alamance), the American Revolution (1775-1783), the War of 1812 (1812-1814), and the Mexican-American War (1846-48).

Special events are occasionally scheduled to honor our county's veterans at the memorial.
