2007 Tropical Storm and Hurricane Information
12-11-2007: Hurricane Season 2007 has ended, but storms carry on. Subtropical Storm Olga has formed near the Dominican Republic, and is expected to move into the Gulf of Mexico over the next 3-5 days.
2007 represents a slightly above-average hurricane season, with 15 named storms, 6 hurricanes, and 2 major hurricanes. While there were 2 landfalling category-5 hurricanes, the season had a minimal affect on Alamance County and North Carolina, strengthening the drought conditions we continue to deal with.
Thank you for tuning in. We look forward to keeping you up to date in 2008!
Visitors to this page are encouraged to keep aware of Hurricane information posted by the National Hurricane Center and local and national news and weather.

As we have learned from the past few years, with Hurricanes Bertha, Fran, Dennis, Floyd, and Isabel, residents in Alamance County should be prepared for these storms. Although we don't often get hit directly by the eye of the storm, there are hundreds of miles of winds and rain and flooding that can affect us greatly, both on a local level, and on national level. |
We plan to use this page to keep you informed and aware of potential tropical storm and hurricane threats. Although we will update this page as often as necessary and possible, in case of an emergency, you should always tune in to local media to find out the latest information on evacuations and preparations.
Some Questions you may Have What is a Hurricane? A Thunderstorm? A Tornado? What can I do to prepare for these storms? What is a Three-Day-Kit? What should I do when a storm hits? What should I do after the storm is completely over?
