First Confirmed Novel H1N1 Case in Alamance County
Patient and immediate contacts being treated at home
The Alamance County Health Department was notified late this afternoon by the North Carolina Division of Public Health that laboratory tests from an Alamance County resident confirm the patients diagnosis of Novel H1N1 Influenza.
The patient, who was treated and released from UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill, and those in the household, are being treated with antiviral medications at home.
As Novel H1N1 has been confirmed in several other surrounding counties, it is important that everyone pay special attention to their personal health, as well as the health of family members and those that they may come into contact with.
If you or a family member exhibits any symptoms of illness, particularly fever (over 100?F), sore throat, body aches, chills, and fatigue, it is highly recommend that you stay at home. Doing this will not only protect the ill patient, but the overall health of the entire community. Diarrhea and vomited has also been known to accompany these symptoms. If symptoms continue to worsen, medical attention should by contacting your physician or health care provider.
