Purpose: Planning Board was established to perform its duties under the zoning ordinance and others as required by law or directed by the Board of Aldermen. Planning Board also serves as Board of Adjustment to hear and decide appeals made by the Zoning Officer, and to authorize variances to the Zoning Ordinance. Requirements for Membership: Resident of extraterritorial jurisdiction of the Town of Elon. Planning Board: GS 160A-361, established September 20, 1956. Board of Adjustment: GS 160A-388, established September 4, 1969.
