Certified Well Contractors

Well drillers in North Carolina must be certified by the North Carolina Well Contractors Certification Commission.  In addition, local well regulations in Alamance County require certified well contractors to be registered in the county. 

Anyone performing well contractor activities in Alamance County is required to have a certified well contractor present and this contractor must be registered in Alamance County.  Well contractor activities include the following:

  • Constructing a well
  • Installing a well
  • Repairing a well
  • Altering a well
  • Abandoning a well

This includes breaking the well seal to gain access to the well, disinfection, extending well casing, well abandonment, hydrofracturing, well repair and construction.
