Historic Properties Commission

The Alamance County Historic Properties Commission is an 11 member advisory Board that deals with the active preservation and designation of Alamance County's historic landmarks.

The Commission works with several local municipalities such as Mebane, Haw River, Village of Alamance, and Ossipee to aid the identification and designation of local historic landmarks. The Commission is also responsible for the review of applications for Certificates of Appropriateness related to the renovation and/or restoration of historic structures.

Among recent projects, the Alamance County Historic Properties Commission has assisted with the National Register of Historic Places designation of the Historic Mill District in the Village of Alamance, the local designation of the Historic Woodlawn School, and local designation of the White Furniture Factory located in Mebane, NC.

The Historic Properties Commission meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 3:30 PM. All meetings, unless otherwise noted are held in the Planning Conference Room located at 217 College Street in Graham, NC.
