 Starting May 1st the park is open 7 days a week, 8:00am - 8:00pm

 

  Alamance County's newest park and first natural area.  The natural area contains approximately 5 miles of hiking trails and extends the Haw River Trail/ Mountain-to-Sea Trail by over a mile.  The park also features access to the Haw River Trail paddle trail, backcountry camping and picnic areas.

Primative camping is available at Shallow Ford Natural Area.  There is no fee for Alamance County residents.  Non-residents must pay $10 for each group of 10 campers, and an additional $1 for each camper over 10.  The department does require that a responsible adult be with each group.  The campsites are accessible by canoe from the Haw River or by a several mile hike from the parking area.  Call (336) 270-5124 for more information. 

Rules and Regulations

The park is owned by the State of North Carolina and operated by the Alamance County Recreation and Parks Department.  Park Rules and Regulations will be enforced by the Alamance County Sheriff's Department.

 

The Following Acts are Prohibited:

Possession or Use of Alcohol or Illegal Drugs

Use of Motor Vechicles Outside of Parking Area

Littering or Defacing of County Property

Possession of Firearms

Solicitation of Any Kind

Failure to Have Pets on a Leash

Fishing from Boat Launch Area

Parking Outside of Designated Parking Spots
