Alamance County uses the NC Debt Setoff program to help collect unpaid ACEMS debt.  You can learn more about this program at their website http://www.ncsetoff.org/

Every patient that is past due on the money they owe to Alamance County Emergency Medical Services (ACEMS) for services provided receives a copy of this letter: Sample Debt Setoff Letter

The patient’s letter should have their own name, address, account number and amount owed included.  Patients will have 30 days to request a hearing with Billy Jenkins, the ACEMS interim director and debt setoff hearing officer, who would meet with the appealing party and allow them to contest the amount they owe.  The only valid reasons to request a hearing as follows:

  • Incorrect person was billed
  • Clerical Error
  • Improper Coding

If you have any questions about debt setoff, please contact Alamance County Emergency Medical Services headquarters during business hours, Monday – Friday, 8 am – 5 pm, at 336-570-6796.
