NC Medicaid is required to provide transportation to medical appointments for all Medicaid eligible individuals who need and request assistance with transportation. Non-Emergency Medicaid Transportation (NEMT) consists of arranging and/or paying for transportation to Medicaid covered services provided by a qualified Medicaid provider (enrolled as a NC Medicaid provider). Medicaid only pays for the least expensive suitable to the beneficiary’s needs.
Beginning July 1, 2021, Alamance County DSS will only coordinate transportation for NC Medicaid Direct members. To apply for NEMT services or to schedule a ride, call (336) 229-2916. If you receive a recording, please leave only your name and telephone number and your call will be returned.
For beneficiaries enrolled in NC Managed Care, Prepaid Health Plans (PHPs) are now required to provide NEMT services. Enrolled members should contact their PHP for transportation assistance. Below are NEMT contact numbers:
