What is Child Abuse and Neglect and Dependency?
Abuse is the harmful mistreatment by a parent, guardian or caretaker, which may be physical, emotional, or sexual in nature.

Neglect is continued failure to provide for a child’s basic needs, which may be medical, educational, physical, or emotional in nature.

Dependency occurs when a child is in the need of placement because there is no parent/guardian/custodian/caretaker available to care for him/her, or the parent/guardian cannot provide care or supervision due to a physical or mental disability.
