HISTORY: Alamance County began a concerted effort in 2002 to address the serious issue of domestic violence. As part of this effort, a community dialogue was held in 2005. Community leaders and other stakeholders overwhelmingly agreed that having a Family Justice Center would greatly improve services to victims of violence. After much work and advocacy, the County Commissioners agreed to renovate the old Department of Social Services building so that the Family Justice Center could be housed there. The Family Justice Center of Alamance County opened July 8, 2010.
