2024 Trailathlon – March 23, 2024, 9am • Glencoe
The Haw River Trail, Haw River Canoe & Kayak Company, and Alamance Parks proudly present the 2024 Trailathlon. The Trailathlon is an Alamance County one-of-a-kind event. This event combines paddling, cycling, and running into one amazing race. This untimed event is an excellent opportunity to challenge your family and friends.
This year for the first time ever we will be in the Glencoe area for the race. The paddle will start at the Great Bend Paddle Access and participants will paddle upriver on this flat water section to the dam at The Valley Golf Course and back for a total of 2 miles. Once back they will grab their bikes and head out of the Glencoe Mill Village on Greenwood Rd and ride out to the General Store at Burch Bridge Rd. and back for a total of 7 miles. The next transition will have them parking their bikes and starting the out-and-back 5k trail run on the Haw River Trail – Carolina Mill Trail section. There are no extreme elevation changes for the bike ride and trail run so this is appropriate for all ages, young and old. The road will remain open during the event but signs will be posted to alert drivers of cyclists on the road.
What You Need to Know:
- You need to bring your own bike.
- Registration includes a boat rental and personal floatation device but participants are welcome to bring their own boats (you would need to bring your own PFD as well).
- All participants will be placed into flights to leverage the amount of available boats and to not overcrowd certain sections of the course. You will be advised of your flight and start time ahead of race day.
SWAG! Your entry fee includes a Haw River Trail swag pack that includes a hat, sticker, and pen.
TEAMS! Don’t want to attempt it alone. No problem. To make this happen just one member of the team needs to register. That registration will only provide one swag pack. If you want additional swag packs for team members just use the add-on option during checkout.
