Marriage Licenses

Marriage licenses may be obtained between 8:00 a.m.and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The license is valid for 60 days and may be used in any county in the state of North Carolina.  A marriage license costs $60.00.

Both parties must appear together to obtain the license.

Applicants must provide their photo I.D.

Social Security cards must be presented.

If applicant has never been issued a Social Security number, they may present a sworn statement/affidavit  to that affect.

*YOUR ONLINE APPLICATION WILL BE DELETED AFTER 30 DAYS FROM SUBMISSION DATE IF YOU HAVE NOT VISITED THE REGISTER OF DEEDS TO FINISH THE LICENSE PROCESS

Recent Divorce/Death of Spouse

If either party has been divorced within the past 30 days, a FILED copy of the final divorce papers must be presented.  If either party’s marriage has ended by death of spouse within the past 30 days, a CERTIFIED copy of the death certificate must be presented. If longer than 30 days the parties will need to know the day and year that it occured.
