On Saturday night at 11:20 p.m., an Alamance County Sheriff’s Deputy conducted a traffic stop at Isley Rd. and Keck Rd. in Haw River, N.C. The driver, Maurice Dontae Shoffner, was stopped for improper use of traffic lane and equipment violations.

During the stop, Mr. Shoffner was detained for suspicion of driving while impaired. Mr. Shoffner began to resist by assaulting the Deputy and attempting to run. Mr. Shoffner was apprehended and placed in the Deputy’s patrol vehicle. A K9 on scene alerted to the presence of contraband.

Deputies discovered cocaine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia in Mr. Shoffner’s possession. Mr. Shoffner was transported the Alamance County Detention Center
