Two Males Charged with Felony Speeding to Elude Arrest

On February 23, 2021, at approximately 9:30pm, officers of the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office attempted to conduct a traffic stop for two drivers on motorcycles speeding on N. Church St. in Burlington.  Neither motorcycle had visible registration plates.

The drivers did not comply and attempted to flee at a high rate of speed. When the drivers split up, deputies were able to pursue one of the drivers to NC 62 N. to the neighborhood on Hollybrook Dr. where the pursuit ended. The driver, Jacob Porterfield, was taken into custody.

Alamance County Sheriff’s Office deputies were able to identify the other motorcycle driver, and a warrant was issued for his arrest. On February 25, 2021, Dakota Feurnisen was taken into custody at his home on Blanche Dr. in Burlington, NC.

Both suspects were charged with a felony speeding to elude arrest, and given $2500 unsecured bonds.  Both of the motorcycles were seized pursuant to the North Carolina “Run and You’re Done” law in which vehicles used by suspects to flee from law enforcement can be seized and auctioned. The proceeds from the auction are given to the North Carolina Public School System.
