On July 9, 2021, the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office Human Exploitation Team opened an investigation when information was discovered that someone at a residence in Alamance County was using the internet to upload child sexual abuse material.
On July 13, 2021, investigators with the Human Exploitation Team, Special Victims Unit, and other surrounding area Internet Crimes Against Children affiliates executed a search warrant at 3140 Firefly Court in Mebane, North Carolina.
During the course of the investigation, James Hadley Lynch was identified as a suspect in this case. Mr. Lynch was subsequently charged with six counts of second degree sexual exploitation of a minor involving this investigation.
Mr. Lynch was also found to be a registered sex offender and was not in compliance with the North Carolina Sex Offenders Registry. As a result, he was also charged with one count of failure to inform of new/changes to online identifiers.
