On Thursday, October 21, 2021, at approximately 12:30 a.m., the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Pilot Truck Stop on Jimmie Kerr Road in reference to two individuals that had been struck by gunfire while traveling on Interstate 40. The victims were driving a white Mercedes sedan going westbound on I-40 between exits 152 and 150. An unknown vehicle pulled alongside the Mercedes and began firing a gun at the vehicle, striking the driver and the driver’s side rear passenger. There is no known suspect vehicle at this time.
