On December 7, 2021, the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop due to a left of center road violation. During the stop, a K-9 was utilized for an open-air sniff with a positive indication. Officers conducted a probable cause search and found a methamphetamine pipe in the center console of the vehicle. During the stop, Bryce Joseph Rhew admitted to having methamphetamine in his wallet and was charged with possession of a schedule II and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was also served with two warrants for larceny and shoplifting.

The Alamance County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division conducted two Detention Center investigations that resulted in felonies.

On Thursday December 2, 2021, a female reported to the Detention Center supervisor that an inmate, identified as Tyrone Jackson Jr., was threatening to do harm to her boyfriend who was also an inmate if she did not pay Mr. Jackson $900 dollars through Cash App. These threats were confirmed using the recorded calls, and Tyrone Jackson Jr., was charged with one count of felony extortion. He was given an additional $15,000 secured bond.

On Monday, December 6, 2021, inmate, Quintin Markel Carson Hicks, assaulted a Detention Officer after refusing to return to his cell. Inmate Hicks punched and choked the Detention Officer during the altercation. Inmate Hicks was charged with one count of felony assault by strangulation and was given an additional $15,000 secured bond.
