On Thursday September 1st, 2022, the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office Strike Team, along with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office Strike Team were conducting saturation patrols in the city of Burlington. A vehicle stop was initiated in the parking lot of Home Depot on a car displaying an expired registration plate. Upon approach of the vehicle, Deputies were able to clearly see drug paraphernalia scattered throughout the vehicle. A K9 was utilized and gave a positive indication of narcotics.

The driver provided a false name and date of birth as he could not provide any form of identification. Deputies convinced the driver to provide his true identity and ultimately did so. The driver was identified and found to be Deshawn Jamar Heckstall.

Upon searching the vehicle, 1.67 grams of heroin, 18 grams of suspected liquid methadone and .1 grams of cocaine were located. Multiple items of drug paraphernalia were also seized.

Mr. Heckstall also had multiple unserved warrants. He was taken into custody without incident. He was transported and booked into the Alamance County Detention Center.
