Alamance County Sheriff’s Office

The Sheriff’s Office is the principal law enforcement agency of Alamance County, providing service to over 170,000 residents within 435 square miles. Terry S. Johnson has served as Sheriff of Alamance County since 2002 and is the chief law enforcement officer of the county.

The Alamance County Sheriff’s Office is responsible for law enforcement, detention, and court duties. Deputies patrol the county, investigate crimes, apprehend criminals, and have custody or control for arrested defendants, both pre-trial and sentenced. The Sheriff’s Office also provides courtroom security, service of civil papers, and animal control, amongst other things.
