A community dialogue was held on September 20, 2016 to acquire community input and develop response strategies to reduce the number of people with mental illness or co-occurring substance dependence entering the criminal justice system.  In attendance were community leaders, local governments, law enforcement, judicial staff, medical and behavioral health professionals, community service agencies, faith based partners, consumers, and advocates.

The event was facilitated by staff from the University of North Carolina School of Social Work.
