The Alamance County Tax Department is responsible for the assessment of approximately 74,000 parcels of real property, 156,000 registered motor vehicles, 12,000 items of personal property owned by individuals and the combined personal property of 4,700 businesses. We collect approximately $105 million in property tax revenue each year for Alamance County, 12 fire districts and 6 municipalities (City of Mebane, City of Gibsonville, Town of Green Level, Town of Haw River, Town of Ossipee, and Village of Alamance). Additionally, we maintain a variety of public records (most with online access) and administer a number of tax relief programs.

The Tax Department is directed by the Tax Administrator (serving as both the statutory Tax Assessor and Tax Collector) who is appointed and governed by the Board of County Commissioners. The department is currently staffed with 33 full-time employees.
