Traffic Stops Leads To Felony Drug Charges

On Sunday afternoon January 10, 2021 at 5:39 p.m., Deputies conducted a traffic stop in the 800 block of Lakeside Ave. Burlington, N.C. The vehicle, a gray Kia Optima, was first observed at the intersection of Sharpe Rd. and Lakeside Ave. The vehicle as suspected of illegal window tint. When blue lights and siren were activated, the driver refused to stop. With a Deputy behind the vehicle, the driver stopped in the 800 block of Lakeside Ave.

During the course of the traffic stop, the driver was identified as Jamaul Dontae Vinson. A K9 on scene was deployed for an exterior vehicle sniff and gave positive indication to the odor of narcotics at the defendant’s vehicle. Inside of the vehicle a total of 3.16 pounds of marijuana, drug paraphernalia and $17,724 in cash was located and seized.

Mr. Vinson was arrested and transported to the Alamance County Detention Center.
