On Monday, June 28, 2021, Frank James Hamlett, Jr. passed away at the Alamance County Detention Center. That evening at 6:02 p.m., detention officers made their rounds which included checking on Mr. Hamlett. When dinner was delivered at 6:24 p.m., Mr. Hamlett was found in medical distress, and a detention officer immediately performed CPR until EMS arrived. Paramedics continued lifesaving efforts, but, unfortunately, they were unable to revive him. Mr. Hamlett was then transported to Alamance Regional Medical Center. The official cause of death has not been determined and will be released by the medical examiner. As per standard protocol, the NCSBI was notified and is assisting in the investigation. 

On Saturday, June 26, 2021, Alamance County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to Trollingwood Road in Haw River in reference to a domestic disturbance involving a knife. Mr. Hamlett was arrested and charged with Assault with a Deadly Weapon and given a $20,000 secured bond. In addition, Mr. Hamlett was in violation of probation on two counts due to two charges of Cruelty to Animals and given a $10,000 secured bond.
