On July 27, 2021, the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office received a report that Sandy Cross Mini Mart was broken into during the night. The suspects stole a safe containing over $4000 dollars and attempted to break open the ATM inside of the store.
 
On Thursday, July 29, 2021, the vehicle that was used in the break-in was located by Alamance County Sheriff’s Office detectives and was driven by Zakirus Wachovia Davis. The vehicle contained clothing that was worn by the suspects as well as the sledge hammer used to break into the store. Detectives also learned that the same suspects broke into a mini mart located in Elon on July 11, 2021.
 
Zakirus Wachovia Davis and Samiyah Leanne Jones were charged by the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office as well as the Elon Police Department. Mr. Davis was also served with numerous outstanding warrants and failure to appears from five surrounding counties for the same type of crimes. This investigation is ongoing, and detectives are working to apprehend the additional suspect.
