Throughout the month of July, Maverick Radio and the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office have been collecting donations for bikes and helmets for distribution to children in the community. Early July, Jimmy Aiken from Jimmy’s Home Improvement and Maintenance and Juanita Aiken of 2 Sisters Cleaning Service donated new bikes in the hopes that community members and businesses would also pitch in to help. Over the course of the last month, 115 new bikes and helmets were collected.

“My wife and I wanted to be a blessing to some of the children in our community as I believe that every child should have a new bike. Instead of waiting until Christmas, we wanted children to have bikes when the weather was nice so that they could ride them right away,” says Jimmy Aiken.

On Friday, August 6, 2021, Sheriff Terry Johnson and staff, Jimmy and Juanita Aiken of Jimmy’s Home Improvement and Maintenance and 2 Sisters Cleaning Service, and Chuck Marsh and Carson Johnson of Maverick Radio, kicked off the bicycle delivery to some special families. Alamance County Sheriff’s Office School Resource Officers continued making deliveries early this week which resulted in a total of 95 bikes distributed to children so far.

“Thank you to Jimmy, Juanita, and the Maverick for allowing us to be a partner in this project! I’m blown away by the generosity of all those that donated money, bikes, and helmets, and I’m proud to be a part of such a giving community! It was the highlight of my week to see each child’s face light up when we arrived,” says Sheriff Johnson.

The Alamance County Sheriff’s Office, Jimmy’s Home Improvement and Maintenance, 2 Sisters Cleaning Service, and Maverick Radio would like to extend appreciation to all of the individuals and businesses that contributed to the Christmas in July Bicycle Drive!
