On October 16, 2021, at approximately 8:30 a.m., the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a utility trailer and John Deere Zero Turn Mower that was stolen from the driveway of a residence. The theft was captured on the victim’s home security cameras, and the suspect’s vehicle was positively identified later that day by Alamance County Patrol Deputies. Investigators were called, and the driver of the truck was identified as the same person in the video footage of the larceny. The suspect was also linked to another theft of a utility trailer from Union Ridge Road.
Douglas Eugene Sayles was charged with three counts of felony larceny and booked into the Alamance County Detention Center. He was released on a $20,000 unsecured bond.
