On Thursday, July 20, 2023, the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit (SVU) began an investigation in reference to a registered sex offender identified as Alberto Gamboa Sanchez. It was believed that Mr. Sanchez had several on-line identifiers which were not registered with the Sheriff’s Office as required by law. Sex offenders are required to notify the Sheriff’s Office of all online identifiers they use including social media platforms and online messaging platforms.
Investigators discovered several online posts of Mr. Sanchez working out at a local gym. Detectives were then able to establish probable cause to charge Mr. Sanchez.
Mr. Sanchez was arrested on Friday, July 21, 2023 and transported to the Alamance County Detention Center.
