The Alamance County Sheriff’s Office held a graduation ceremony Tuesday, October 24, 2023 to honor twenty-two (22) graduates of the Fall 2023 Citizen Academy. Graduates along with family and friends enjoyed a delicious meal prepared by The Lamb’s Chapel in Burlington. Each Graduate received a ‘Certificate of Completion’ along with an ACSO Challenge Coin.
The class met each Tuesday evening at 6:30 p.m. beginning September 5, 2023 through October 24, 2023.
The ACSO Citizen Academy is an extension of the agency’s Community Engagement Initiative. The goal of the Academy is to provide insight about the job functions and responsibilities of the Sheriff’s Office.
Topics covered include, Q&A with Sheriff Johnson, Special Response Team Demo, Taser Demonstration, Crime Scene Investigation (CSI), Firearms Simulator, Laws of Arrest, Search and Seizure, Ride Along with a Deputy and much more.
Citizen Academy is open to all Alamance County residents eighteen (18) and above. There are no costs to attend. Admission is on a first come basis after a satisfactory background check.
