The Alamance County Fire Marshal’s office, working in cooperation with the proper local, state and federal agencies, conducts investigations into the causes of fires within Alamance County. Often times, these fires result in injury, death and property loss.
Given the intense nature of their work, our team members hold certifications in firefighting and fire/arson investigation from the State of North Carolina and are skilled at reconstructing fire scenes to understand the sequence of events that unfold in a fire. Each member of the team has received extensive training in origin and cause determination, fire scene photography, court room testimony, evidence collection, and many other relevant subjects.
When deemed necessary, an accelerant detection canine is used in cooperation with the N.C. State Bureau of Investigation.
Alamance County also has an Arson Task Force that meets monthly to collaborate on fire cases and the investigations into fires across Alamance County. The men and women of this task force spread across multiple agencies ranging from Fire, Law Enforcement, and the District Attorney’s office.
If you have any information regarding the origin or cause of a fire, you are encouraged to contact our office at 336-227-1365.
