County Closings, Cancellations, and Other Information

Alamance-Burlington School System

  1. Alamance-Burlington Schools – Closed through May 15 by order of the Governor
  2. Alamance-Burlington School Lunch Site Information

Board of Elections

  1. Board of Elections Offices closed to the public. Election information and voter registration information will be provided by phone, online, and through email.

County Courts Information

  1. Superior Civil and Criminal Courts – Rescheduled for 30 days beginning March 16, with some exceptions
  2. Order extending filing deadlines and further curtailing other court processes
  3. County Clerk’s Office: Open for filings and assistance, but public is asked to limit person-to-person contact if possible; please call 336-570-5200 with questions

County Sheriff’s Office and Detention Center

  1. Sheriff’s Office Lobby: Front lobby closed; Sheriff’s Office remains open
  2. Alamance County Detention Center Visitation – Restricted to persons on official business only
  3. Defendants Serving Intermittent Sentences – Do not report until May 1
  4. Limited Animal Control Services Intake – Non-essential or non-emergency animal intake will be deferred
  5. Citizens Academy canceled
  6. Non-criminal fingerprinting services suspended

DSS – Department of Social Services

  1. Economic Services will no longer conduct face-to-face contact with customers, but will continue to accept applications for Food and Nutrition (Food Stamps), Medicaid, and Work First benefits.  Applications can be completed online at www.ePass.nc.gov or by phone at 336-570-6532.  Paper applications will continue to be available in our agency or can be mailed per customer request.  Click for more information.

Fire Marshal’s Office

  1. All general fire inspections/re-inspections suspended until April 3, 2020

Health and Human Services

  1. Dental only running emergencies until April 3
  2. Child Health well visits postponed until April 3

Inspections

  1. Inspections Office: Open 8am-5pm; Beginning April 1, 2020, the main number for ALL inspections requests and inquiries will be 336-290-0404.
  2. ALL inspections requested after 4:00 PM (including online) will be scheduled for the business day beginning April 1, 2020

Landfill

  1. Landfill remains open
  2. Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event scheduled for April 18 canceled

Libraries

  1. Libraries closed until further notice
  2. Virtual library programs are still available – please check the Alamance Libraries website

Parks

  1. Alamance Parks Offices, Visitor Centers, bathroom facilities, and playground equipment are closed to the public. Please contact 336-229-2410 or email recinfo@alamance-nc.com with questions
  2. Parks programming suspended including Special Olympic activies, open gym, and fitness centers
  3. Parks outdoor facilities including hiking trails, walking tracks, and other outdoor amenities remain open.
  4. Facility rentals are currently limited to less than 50 people per gatherings

Planning Department

  1. Planning Department: Open 8am-5pm with limited staffing

Register of Deeds

  1. March 26, 2020: Open, conducting business by phone and email.

Soil and Water

  1. Soil and Water Voluntary Agricultural District meeting scheduled for April 1 is canceled

Tax

  1. Alamance County Tax Officeclosed to the public, beginning Monday, March 23, 2020. Tax services will be provided by phone and email. All payments will continue to be processed by mail, drop-box, online, and by phone.

Veterans Services

  1. Walk-in hours and new appointments have been suspended

General County Information

  1. Employee County Gym is closed until further notice
  2. When possible, customers are asked to use the county websites, phone calls, and digital communications for their needs.
